Key Features of the Yamaha TSR-700

In spite of the fact that it’s a Costco-contracted item and $200.00 cheaper than the Big Box Store Version RX-V6A, the TSR-700 offers some impressive features.

Dolby Atmos with Height Virtualizer

The Dolby Atmos with Height Virtualization Technology feature can be used by people who don’t have speakers that go up or down in the ceiling. This lets them get the Atmos experience with speakers that just make your experience more impressive. To get the same impact as two in-ceiling speakers, you can use up to five speakers, or all seven channels, to create a four-speaker system.

In Dolby Atmos, you’ll be able to experience the full range of sound. Take use of Dolby Atmos or a 5.1 surround sound system with upmixer for legacy content, as well as two extra overhead speakers or two more Dolby Atmos elevation speakers, to create dramatic overhead effects for completely immersive audio.

DTS:X

With DTS: X immersive audio, you can hear sound as though it were really occurring in three dimensions. Using the DTS Neural: XTM spatial remapping engine, you’ll have a more realistic experience while watching your favorite movies.

CINEMA DSP 3D

In order to make this unique Yamaha patented technology sound field creation advanced technologies, digital signal processing was used to combine measured sound field data with digital signal processing. Sound field data was gathered from world-famous concert halls and music clubs by Yamaha, drawing on the company’s deep expertise in concert hall architecture, public address, and mixing.

With the help of specific LSI devices, it is possible to bring concert halls and music clubs into the comfort of your own house. Indulge yourself in the incredible realism of your movies, and immerse yourself in a world of deep theatrical sound, using this headset.

Yamaha TSR-700 Receiver Amp

For high-resolution audio signals, Yamaha TSR-700 Receiver Amp would provide a precise signal transmission. Yamaha’s newly designed circuit achieves a high slew rate with steady signal transmission, which is a first in the industry.

Yamaha Compressed Music Enhancer

When music is recorded in a digitally compressed format, such as MP3, it is difficult to perceive the frequency response of the song. Yamaha’s Compressed Music Enhancer uses advanced digital signal processing techniques and unique algorithms to get back what has been lost, so that the music always sounds the way it should.

HDR10+

It not only informs you however much light and dark there is in an image or simply a frame, but it also tells you what occurs in the transitional period between the two. Your video will be able to retain all of its crucial information this way. In this way, displays are able to reproduce imagery more precisely while yet keeping loyal to the artist’s intent.

Gaming-dedicated Function(ALLM,VRR,QMS,QFT)

Games, movies, and videos will move and change smoothly thanks to new features for games, movies, and videos. Included are: Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) permits the optimal latency setting to be determined automatically, allowing for seamless, lag-free, and continuous viewing and engagement while using the device.

For smoother and more detailed gaming, Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) is an essential tool. QMS (Quick Media Switching) for movies and video removes the delay that might occur in blank frames until material is seen. Using Quick Frame Transport (QFT), lag in gaming and virtual reality may be reduced for a more seamless experience.

All of these gaming features will be enabled with the future firmware upgrade.

Yamaha MusicCast App

Using the MusicCast CONTROLLER app and your smartphone or tablet, you can quickly and simply control and alter the AVR’s settings. MusicCast-enabled devices may be controlled using the same Controller app, which also provides complete multi-room audio controls.

Using Alexa or Google Assistant, you can operate a single MusicCast device or a whole-house system with simplicity and listen your home come to life. Each and every MusicCast product is built with sound quality in mind. Apple Lossless (ALAC) up to 96 kHz, WAV, FLAC, and AIFF up to 384 kHz are all supported formats for high-res audio.

YPAO R.S.C/Multi-Point

In order to get the greatest sound possible for your room, YPAO (Yamaha Parametric room Acoustic Optimizer) analyzes the room acoustics and your system, then fine-tunes numerous audio settings. Your home theater’s sound quality will be enhanced simply by putting a microphone at your listening location and turning on YPAO.

Wireless Rear Speaker Compatibility

A wireless surround sound system can be created in your house with this AV receiver and one of the MusicCast 50 or 20 wireless streaming speakers. If that wasn’t enough to convince you, you’ll also enjoy the best sound quality possible in the most clutter-free environment possible. You may easily transform your living room into a unique entertainment area where you can enjoy movies and music to the fullest extent.

Video processing of the highest quality.

The Yamaha TSR 700 is designed to work with today’s most advanced video formats. Almost all of its HDMI ports are capable of playing back both 4k and 8k video. You will be able to broaden your entertainment options and watch Ultra HD video without sacrificing your visual signals thanks to this.

A Compressed Audio Enhancer is also included in the Yamaha TSR 700 speaker system, which enables the restoration of compressed music files to their original format.

AirPlay 2

Apple Music and other streaming services may now be streamed to numerous MusicCast devices in your house using AirPlay 2. It may be controlled from your iPhone or iPad, linked to a HomePod, or you can just ask Siri for help.

Streaming Service

For those of us who like listening to a wide variety of music, music streaming services make it simple to either listen to what we already know, or discover new artists.

Zone2

Zone2 speaker jacks on the TSR 700 allow you to transfer signals from the main area to speakers in a different room, such as a bedroom. Both rooms may be linked to one other, allowing you to play the same audio and video material, or a different one, depending on your preference. To further enhance your system’s versatility, this switch allows you to operate Zone2 speakers separately.

Unless you utilize the features and settings this item has, you won’t be able to appreciate how excellent a value this is for the money.

Powerful Design

Controlling your home entertainment system has never been easier thanks to Yamaha’s sleek design. Performance and ease of use are at the heart of the classic design’s polished aggressiveness. an architectural balance that conveys both beauty and superiority in design.

A strong and functional design is always guaranteed by Yamaha, and these receivers are a great example of that. Compared to earlier versions, there hasn’t been much of a change in the AV receiver’s appearance, and we doubt it will win any design prizes.

The dot-matrix display is hidden behind a translucent acrylic (Plexiglass) front panel. At first, I found the large knob in the centre to be a bit of an oddity. The power button, a USB port, a room calibration microphone port, and lastly a quarter-inch headphone jack may be found on the back of the device. You can see all you need to know about the gadget by turning it on.

Controls

It’s possible to adjust some basic settings using a control knob located to the right of the TSR 700 display. In addition to these features, you can also modify the brightness and swap inputs.

SCENEs may be changed using four touch buttons that function in a similar way to a smartphone’s touchscreen. Basic settings like listening to the radio and playing a gaming console may be controlled using these SCENEs. As well as various inputs, you can also set them up to work with programs like the Sound Field, Music Enhancer, and HDMI output, to name just a few.

For example, you can use a streaming service like Spotify or Pandora to play music from your computer’s hard drive or an Internet radio station like KROQ (network). After setting the buttons, all you have to do is push one of them on the receiver or the remote control to turn it on and start listening to your music. Any time the buttons need to be reset, it’s easy to do so.

In the rear of the panel, you’ll find a wide variety of inputs and outputs. The most noteworthy feature here is the inclusion of seven HDMI inputs and one HDMI output with eARC support. Yamaha’s industry-leading AV receivers have the next generation of ARC, known as eARC, which is built into eARC. In order to have the most authentic surround sound experience possible, eARC offers full-resolution, multi-channel audio formats such as Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD® over your HDMI connection.

A phono preamp, conventional optical and coaxial cable inputs, and several pre-outs for attaching two subwoofers are all found below that. Zone 2 has two pre-outs, as does the right channel, which has two pre-outs for adding amplifiers. Plug up your turntable and listen to your vinyl collection using the designated input ports.

Also included are an ethernet interface and two wireless antennae, which may be used to access the Internet and listen in on a wide variety of radio programming. It also has an antenna connection for radios. There are finally nine sets of binding posts on this one. All seven of these can be powered at once. Both 7.2 channel and 5.1.2 Dolby Atmos surround systems are supported by the receivers, which have 100 watts per channel and two channel driven outputs. Zone 2 may even be activated and another speaker can be powered in a different room. Atmos and surround back channels will be disabled if you do this.

Most prominent music streaming services are compatible with the Yamaha AVR. Streaming programs like Pandora and Spotify are included for your convenience. Alexa, Siri, and Google Assistant may all be used to operate this receiver.

Product Performance

For the price of $600, you get a lot with this amazing receiver. We found Yamaha’s graphical interface to be very user friendly. Although this receiver isn’t nearly as good as their more expensive models, it’s fine for the price point.

At this point, the TSR-700 seems to be more than capable of powering an even more powerful 5.1.2 system without breaking a sweat. Although other Yamaha receivers seem more alive to my ears than the Yamaha TSR 700, it does a better job of distinguishing between the various channels, creating a terrific and immersive movie-watching experience. The explosive dynamics in the action flicks were spot on and the conversations were sharp and clear without ever growing tired. The same holds true for frequencies over 20,000 Hz. They pay attention to every detail and never turn down the level to compensate for the sound’s startling brilliance.

This receiver could also play music in the pure direct form. There are 32-bit DACs incorporated into the receiver, and I believe it led to this. A broad soundstage and a more detailed and clear midrange are two things I noticed about this receiver in comparison to our previous receivers.

Now that the audio quality has improved, we can go on. Let’s talk about the receiver’s visual quality now. In terms of image quality, 4K Blu-ray looked stunning on the TSR 700, and there were no issues with the picture being shown. Another thing that surprised me was the quality of the receiver’s upscaling. As a result, the image seems to be more bright and rich. You don’t need a 4K Blu-ray player to enjoy your Blu-ray library this way. In addition, it’s not as excellent as a pure 4K DVD, but it’s darn near there.

Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, and Neural: X are all included in the audio package. For the most mind-blowing sound effects and tracks possible, gamers will have access to ALLM, VRR, QFT and QMS capabilities. Built-in MusicCast allows for the addition of wireless speakers to extend your system and create various zones of music. 4K/120Hz enables ultra-fast motion UHD pictures to be crisp and razor-sharp, making it ideal for high-performance games, sports, and action movies.

Compared to Alternative Products

Yamaha TSR 700 vs RX V6A

These Yamaha receivers are a great example of Yamaha’s commitment to quality and functionality. In terms of functionality and sound quality, the Yamaha TSR 700 and RX V6A are almost identical. There are a few more features that make the Yamaha TSR 700 a better choice in terms of sound quality and connectivity.

Its pricing, though, makes the RX V6A a popular option for those on a tight budget. Features seen in high-end models may be found in the RX V6A at a reasonable price. RX V6A provides wireless streaming capabilities that are as cutting-edge as those found in the TSR 700, making your home theater experience really unique sound.

Yamaha TSR-700 vs Denon AVR-S750H

Many of the features of these two receivers are identical. While the Yamaha has the capability of 8K resolution, it is not presently working out of the box. 8k resolution will undoubtedly be a norm in the next years, so being able to use it now will be advantageous in the future.

In terms of sound quality, the two receivers are quite different. A byproduct of the Denon’s weak channels is a lack of punch. Musically, Yamaha is a better option for the newest game consoles and 3D movies because of its superior sound quality, loudness, and depth.

The Yamaha TSR-700 has a lot of great, long-term features that I really like. It sounded better than the competition, despite the absence of a second subwoofer channel. The simple version of Audyssey that comes with the Denon AVR-S750H is significantly less helpful than the superior YPAO technology Yamaha employs.

Wrapping up

As a stand-alone receiver, it is quite an amazing and high-quality sound receiver. At this moment in time, this may be the best receiver available at the current retail price point. If you’re looking for a wonderful way to get started with a home theater system without completely blowing your budget, the Yamaha TSR-700 is a fantastic choice.

The Yamaha TSR 700 is a terrific choice for both movies and music, thanks to its vast range of features and high level of performance–all at a price that most people can afford.
