How to Build a Bluetooth Speaker

Step 01: Gather Supplies

Needed Components: 

  • Something that will house the components
  • Bluetooth amplifier
  • Bluetooth module
  • DC power supply cable
  • Electrical tape or heat shrink tubing
  • 24V DC power adapter
  • (x2) Dayton Audio 40W exciter
  • 5.5mm x 2.5mm female socket
  • Solder
  • Any kind of masking or painters’ tape
  • 18-gauge Speaker wire

  • 470 Ohm, 1/2-Watt Resistor

Step 02: Assemble the Bluetooth amplifier

  • Drill holes in the ground.
  • Shafts should be inserted through holes and nuts should be used to secure them.
  • Put knobs on the shafts.

The amplifier may be placed anyplace using 3M double-sided foam tape if the controls don’t need to be visible or if concealing them is desired.

  • Wrap electrical tape around the soldered connections to keep them from contacting and shorting out.

Step 07: Install Amp and Bluetooth Module with each other

Purchase your Bluetooth modules and amplifier circuit boards individually for greater flexibility over your speaker design. Remember that both an amplifier and a Bluetooth speaker module need power, so use the same power source for both. We suggest that you use a 12 volt power supply.

  • This phase is completed by cutting and screwing wires in your BT module and Amp with the proper wire terminals.
  • We’ll use one power line to power both the amp and the BT unit since we don’t want to utilize two separate power wires.

Finally, at the rear corners, I glued tiny triangles into which the back panel would screw.

In line with the power cable, I simply installed a standard toggle switch. Make certain you use one with a high enough rating. I also added another toggle for the mute switch, however this time it’s a double throw switch with six terminals. (There are two sets of on-ground-off.)
